Shoe Dog by Phil Knight is an extraordinary story about the journey and struggles to build a giant shoe company that we today know as NIKE. It is a masterpiece. Reading Shoe Dog has been an incredible rollercoaster. It is nothing short of an adventure story filled with emotions, heartbreaks, and mind-numbing stories. You can not expect anything more than this. If you are a freelancer and have a business, I highly recommend you read this book, and I promise an enormous supply of knowledge and wisdom.
The author of Shoe Dog and his team members encountered many events, and many times they were not sure about the companies’ survival. Such as the problem of facing a giant distributor that forced them to ask for the exclusive rights of the USA, for which they were not fully equipped. Another event led them to ditch the existing manufacturer and find a new shoe manufacturer, which was again a difficult phase for everyone.
Shoe dog is a prime example of all the hard work and dedication an entrepreneur goes through to set up a business that is born inside the brain of Nike’s founder. His story inspires every creator and gives an extensive idea of what starting a business could look like in real life. The team did whatever it took to see the light at the end of the tunnel. They were with each other and supported to every extent and made their’s life’s mission to succeed. Having a business is never easy. It is always a blood bath, but this book has set the benchmark for building a viable business, and I feel that many will draw inspiration from this for decades.
